Christophe Van de Weyer joined Vonage in 2025 and has since led the company’s efforts to harness high-performance, programmable networks and advanced communication capabilities to accelerate enterprise digital transformation globally, with a strong focus on driving profitable growth in Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) and Network APIs.
Ericsson has announced the appointment of Christophe Van de Weyer as Head of Business Area Global Communications Platform and Chief Executive Officer of Vonage. He will also join Ericsson’s Executive Team.
Van de Weyer joined Vonage in 2025 and has since led the company’s efforts to leverage high-performance, programmable networks and advanced communication capabilities to accelerate enterprise digital transformation globally. His focus has been on driving profitable growth in Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) and Network APIs.
Before joining Vonage, Van de Weyer served as Chief Executive Officer of Telesign, a US-based subsidiary of Proximus Group, and held several senior leadership positions at Proximus. Prior to that, he spent nearly two decades at global management consulting firm Bain & Company, where he was a partner and held multiple leadership roles within the Telecommunications and Technology practice, advising some of the world’s largest telecom operators.
Commenting on the appointment, Ericsson President and Chief Executive Officer Börje Ekholm said Van de Weyer brings deep expertise in the communications services market and has successfully returned Vonage’s API business to growth. He added that the appointment reflects Ericsson’s well-planned succession strategy for key leadership positions.
Van de Weyer expressed appreciation for the opportunity, stating that Ericsson and Vonage are leading the development of network-powered solutions that combine artificial intelligence, data, and APIs to transform enterprise workflows and improve customer engagement. He said he looks forward to accelerating the company’s growth alongside the teams at Ericsson and Vonage.
Ericsson also announced that Niklas Heuveldop will step down as Head of Business Area Global Communications Platform and CEO of Vonage, effective August 15, 2026.
Heuveldop first joined Ericsson in 1993 and has been a member of the Executive Team since 2016. Throughout his career, he has held several senior roles, including Head of Market Area North America, Chief Strategy Officer, Head of Technology & Emerging Business, and Chief Customer Officer. He has served in his current role since February 1, 2024.
Ekholm praised Heuveldop for his significant contributions to Ericsson’s turnaround journey, highlighting his strong industry expertise, customer focus, business acumen, and leadership. He noted that under Heuveldop’s leadership, Vonage underwent restructuring and strategic refocusing, significantly improving its performance and restoring growth.

He also credited Heuveldop for leading Ericsson’s market share expansion in North America, including the company’s USD 14 billion network transformation agreement with AT&T, and thanked him for his longstanding contributions to Ericsson.
Reflecting on his departure, Heuveldop described his time at Ericsson as a life-changing experience spanning more than three decades, including six international assignments and involvement in periods of rapid growth and multiple business turnarounds.
He said Vonage’s turnaround has continued to gain momentum, with growth restored, investment levels peaking, and strategy execution progressing strongly. He added that the company has an exceptional team in place and expressed confidence in Van de Weyer’s leadership as he prepares to hand over the role and pursue new opportunities.
