FAB Unveils Jaywan Debit Card to Advance UAE’s National Payments System

The Jaywan Debit Card offers customers a secure, reliable, and efficient way to make everyday payments and access cash nationwide.

First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), one of the world’s largest and safest financial institutions and the UAE’s global bank, has launched the Jaywan Debit Card under the UAE’s national card scheme, managed by Al Etihad Payments and supported by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE). The card is currently available for domestic use as part of the nationwide rollout of Jaywan.

The Jaywan Debit Card provides customers with a secure, reliable and efficient payment solution for everyday transactions and cash access across the country. It enables payments at local merchant outlets, supports domestic online transactions on UAE-based platforms and allows cash withdrawals from ATMs nationwide.

Integrated into FAB’s digital banking ecosystem, the card allows customers to manage their finances through the FAB Mobile app. Users can monitor transactions, manage accounts and access a range of digital banking services through a seamless and user-friendly experience.

The card is equipped with advanced security features, including 3D Secure authentication and Chip and PIN technology, supporting secure online and in-person transactions. The launch aligns with FAB’s commitment to delivering secure banking solutions and supports the UAE’s goals of strengthening its national payments ecosystem and enhancing data sovereignty.

In addition, the Jaywan Debit Card supports tokenised wallet integration through digital wallets, allowing customers to make secure digital payments across compatible devices and platforms.

Commenting on the launch, Futoon Al Mazrouei, Group Head of Personal, Wealth and Business Banking at FAB, said the Jaywan Debit Card demonstrates the bank’s commitment to delivering secure, innovative and customer-focused payment solutions that support the UAE’s evolving financial ecosystem.

She noted that as the national card scheme strengthens the country’s payments infrastructure, Jaywan combines the trust of a nationally backed payment solution with the convenience customers expect, contributing to the UAE’s vision of a more connected, resilient and inclusive financial future.

Andrea Ciancetti, Chief Products Officer at Al Etihad Payments, described the card as a sovereign domestic payment scheme designed to support convenient, secure and efficient payments across everyday use cases.

He said FAB’s launch of the debit card marks an important milestone in the rollout of the scheme, giving people in the UAE the opportunity to incorporate Jaywan into their daily payment activities, while thanking FAB for its support in bringing the initiative to customers across the country.

The Jaywan Debit Card is available to customers with eligible FAB accounts. Existing customers can apply through the FAB Mobile app or at FAB branches, while new customers must first open an eligible account before applying. Elite and Private Banking clients can also request the card through their relationship managers.

The launch further strengthens FAB’s role in advancing the UAE’s national payments infrastructure while providing customers with a reliable and convenient solution for everyday financial transactions.
